Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an incredibly effective therapeutic approach to improving your well-being individually and in relationships.

EFT combines attachment theory and experiential techniques with a keen understanding of how interwoven we are with those around us.  We are all part of a system and changing one part changes others.  This is particularly true with our closest relationships and EFT uses this understanding as a powerful tool to heal individuals, couples, and families.  Be prepared to:

--Recognize patterns within yourself and between you and your loved ones;

--Access and express deeper and softer emotions (don't know how--don't worry, that's what we're here for!);

--Risk sharing from the place of tender emotion;

--And find that even in your darkest, loneliest, scariest corner, you are not alone!

EFT was first introduced by Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Les Greenberg and since then, Sue Johnson and her colleagues have researched and developed and refined the model into a well-respected mode of therapy that has been repeatedly proven effective with RCT outcome studies.  Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is recognized as the leading approach to treating couples.  Since its inception, EFT has been used with individuals and families also, but in the past few years Sue and her colleagues have developed training programs specifically aimed at applying the model to individuals (Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, or EFIT) and families (Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, or EFFT).  For more information, visit the International Centre for Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) at iceeft.com.
