Our close relationships are important to our mental and emotional well-being and when they are strained, it affects many areas of our lives. In fact, secure relationships are one of the main factors that contribute to the resilience we need to cope with difficult experiences. I specialize in helping couples and families improve their relationships. Healthy relationships are the key to coping with depression, anxiety, trauma, and many other issues. Because of this, my goal is to help everyone have strong, healthy relationships.
I am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which has more than 30 years of research showing that it is effective in helping couples improve their relationships. Studies say that 75% of couples who go through EFT completely resolve the issues that brought them in and 95% say that their relationships are better!
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help couples and families to understand the cycles they get caught in and the softer feelings underneath the behaviors that are causing problems. A little about me:
After getting my bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, I stayed home to raise what grew to be 7 children. As I spent time focused on them, I realized that I wanted to work more closely helping people and their relationships. When my youngest started preschool, I went back to school to get my master’s degree in Counseling! I love reading, quilting, baking bread, gardening, and hiking in beautiful Southern Illinois where I have lived for more than 20 years. I now have 7 children, 4 children in law, and 7 grandchildren!
